Deena has been coaching and working in sport since 2015. She brings an impressive range of knowledge and experience to the table, including law, economics, hospitality, and education.
From 2016 until 2020, Deena worked full-time at UK Sport, the national agency for the UK Olympics and Paralympics programmes. Her free time was devoted to coaching, volunteering and training and racing when she could. In 2019, British Cycling nominated her for the UK Coaching Talent Development Coach of the Year because of her contributions to the talent development in the UK pathway.
During the pandemic, Deena took the opportunity to dive headfirst into self-employment, turning her hand to consulting, mentoring and coaching, guiding and more.
Today, Deena works with a range of organisations and individuals, including Cynisca Cycling, The Cyclists’ Alliance, and UK Coaching. You can read her writing in Rouleur and Cycling Weekly.
An interesting fact: Deena’s grandmother was Amina Desai, South Africa’s longest-serving female Indian political prisoner during the Apartheid regime.
