Danny “The Beast” van Haute brings an impressive coaching and racing background to share with the athletes and staff at Cynisca. He was a three-time Olympic team member, twice as a cyclist and once as a coach, and a junior worlds team member.
In high school and at Northeastern Illinois University, Danny played ice hockey and ran cross-country. He transitioned to bike racing on the track in Northbrook (Chicago), IL, and Kenosha, WI, becoming one of the best riders in the nation. He earned a spot on the US national cycling team member in 1980, making the 1980 Olympic team that did not compete due to the boycott. Between 1980-84 he won five more US titles, and 10 medals at the US Nationals.
Following his racing career, Danny has coached numerous US, Mexican, Canadian and Turkish national cycling champions. He was the general manager of the longest-running US professional cycling team in history (Jelly Belly / Wildlife Generation), influencing countless riders over the years.
