Cynisca Cycling is providing a platform for USA women cyclists to be the best in the world. The focus will be on U25 women, providing an opportunity for them to develop and grow alongside other young women who all have unique competitive drives and spirits. Cynisca promises our riders support, individual coaching, mentorship, a competitive racing schedule, and an opportunity to train and race amongst the best women in the world.

Management Team

Jeff Jones

FOUNDER, CEO

Jeff has been an advocate for women’s cycling since his days at Indiana University, when he helped jumpstart the women’s Little 500 race. He is CEO and chairman of Solution Tree, Inc., delivering comprehensive professional development to PreK-12 educators around the world. He is a graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where his appreciation for bike racing began. After graduating, he spent fourteen years in higher education external affairs at Indiana University, Dartmouth College and Tufts University. Jeff is also chairman of Sarge Property Management, Cadjon LLC and Hoosier Acres LLC, sits on the Board of Directors of Rachel’s Challenge and Marzano Academies and serves as board chairman for Trans World Radio. 

Chris Gutowsky

FOUNDER, GENERAL MANAGER

Chris’s vision to advance women in cycling and his extensive experience in the industry have brought the Cynisca Cycling team to life. Chris has 30+ years of experience in sports marketing and management around the sport of cycling, plus many preceding years competing in elite cycling races. His VéloSport Consulting company currently organizes hospitality-experiential programs around the Tour de France and other major races and provides marketing/sales, experiential, and tourism development support to international cycling events.

Marion Clignet

DIRECTOR SPORTIF

Marion is a six-time cycling world champion, former world-record holder and two-time Olympic silver medalist with more than 350 victories including stage wins and jerseys in the Tour de France Femmes and Giro Feminin. Upon retirement in 2004 from her illustrious racing career, Marion began sharing her knowledge by coaching regional men and women and later became the first woman to coach a Tour de France men’s team as well as amateur and elite women. She is the deputy director of Cyclistes Professionnelles Associés (CPA), an international non-profit association of active pro riders. Marion has been inspiring young women cyclists for most of her life, showing us all what true grit and passion can do. James "Jim" Watson, CPA, CGMA

CFO, TREASURER

Jim brings over 40 years of financial management experience to Cynisca Cycling including funding, cash forecasting and management, internal control systems, compliance, SEC and public reporting, employee benefit plans, and insurance programs from a broad range of industries. In his career, he has worked for two International CPA firms – Deloitte and Pricewaterhouse Coopers – and most recently served as CFO of Solution Tree Inc. for 15 years. Mr. Watson has an active CPA license, is a member of the AICPA and INCPAS and serves on multiple boards.   As CFO, Jim has primary oversight for financial reporting, cash management, human resources, and risk management.

Barbara Giles

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Barbara has spent many years encouraging others, especially young girls, to become active on bikes and on foot and advocating for safer streets for cyclists. Her experience includes senior roles at Bike/Walk Central Florida, the American Red Cross and Sive/Young & Rubicam, as well as volunteer leadership at Girls on the Run, Orange County Parks & Rec Advisory Board, Special Olympics and Orange County Public Schools. A cyclist and triathlete, she now brings her enthusiasm to Cynisca Cycling as the director of communications. She looks forward to connecting the Team to its partners and fans and helping Cynisca Cycling become the most recognizable women’s cycling team in the world.

John Gatch

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

John helps the team decide what to ride, wear, drive and everything else to get a professional cycling team up and running. He knows how to create a successful squad from his vast experience in the pro cycling industry. John has worked as a professional mechanic domestically and abroad; planned and organized pro stage races in the US and China; was competition coordinator at the Tour de Georgia and Tour of Missouri; served as race director for the Ohio Valley Cyclocross Series; was team director for the ProChain Jr. Cycling Team; served on the board of the Lion Hearts Jr. CX Team; has guided cycling trips across France for 20+ years; is a former Category 1 road and CX racer; holds UCI mechanic, driving and directing licenses; and is an advanced EMT and wilderness EMT. A Cincinnati-native and father of two, John is an avid motorcyclist and loves fixing anything with wheels, gears or engines.

Robin Farina

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Robin’s experience moving through the women’s cycling racing ranks gives her a unique perspective to share with developing riders. She began cycling after a knee injury forced her to give up tennis, soccer and volleyball in college. Upon graduating from the University of Tennessee with a sports management degree, the bike became her outlet to keep her love of sports alive. She quickly became a pro cyclist and won the 2011 USA National Road Race Championship, spring boarding her onto the international racing scene. Racing in Europe gave her valuable experience to enhance her skills and earn a spot on the 2012 USA Olympic Long Team for road racing. Throughout her cycling career Robin has operated her own endurance coaching business, RoFA Endurance, owned a bike shop in Charlotte, NC, and helped start the Women’s Cycling Association that was instrumental in launching the campaign for equity in cycling for women.

Claire Gutowsky

PROJECT MANAGER

Claire has a flare for navigating international travel requirements and processes from her own experiences as an American teaching and living in France. She received her master’s degree in French as a teaching fellow at Boston College and has since pivoted her career to project management. She’s led projects in fields ranging from construction to music festivals. Claire is excited to help young athletes through the process of traveling, training and racing abroad and ultimately increasing the visibility of women in sports. 

Julie Barnett

ART DIRECTOR

Julie is a versatile, award-winning graphic designer who has applied her creativity to a variety of cycling-related projects since early in her 30-year career, promoting cycling activities in both the U.S. and internationally. You’ll see Julie’s imprint on almost everything Cynisca relating to the brand image from logos, cycling kits, graphics for digital applications, signage and more. As an avid recreational rider, Julie is thrilled to help realize the exciting vision and potential of Cynisca Cycling through her work, and to support the growth of women’s racing.
